SEO Birmingham - 30th September 2013 Google SEO Algorithm Change

SEO Birmingham - September 2013 Google SEO Algorithm Change – Hummingbird

Google around its 15th birthday released a new algorithm change to help speed up their search results, it is more semantic now.  What that means for us is Google now looks for whole sentences rather than a group of keywords.

If you recently have noticed your website serps falling one of the major things you can do is replace your website content with conversational content, also answer user questions in your content.

EE iPhone 5s Stock

Upgraded my phone from the iPhone 4s 32GB to the iPhone 5s Gold 64GB on EE as my renewal was up.

My renewal was up about 6 months ago, but I purposely waited for this phone, worth the wait

Its been 2.5 weeks now since I upgraded and EE say they still are awaiting stock, very frustrating, but I would still rather wait then looking at another phone

Any one received theirs on EE yet? How long did you have to wait? did you go for gold or another colour?

SVCHost.exe running at high CPU 2013 2014

Strange support call today, one of our customers is still running Windows XP, all the PCs where running 100% CPU and the PC’s were unusable.

The ‘svchost.exe’ in task manager was running at 100% CPU, so we killed this process and all seemed to run as normal on the PC, but after about 10 minutes the process came back again running at 100% CPU again.

One of 2 things we thought, Virus or Windows Updates
We updated to the latest version of the AV software and ran a full deep scan, it found nothing.

We then used Sysinternal’s ProcessExp to see what files the svchost.exe was running, it was ‘wuaueng.dll’ which means Windows Updates.

But the Windows Updates were turned off a year ago in Control Panel, so we right clicked My Computer > Manage > disabled the ‘Automatic Updates’ services – rebooted.

We applied to all other 57 PC’s, we then monitored for the day everything is running smooth again.
